01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Just off the west exit of Ayase Station along a quiet street, TRATTORIA TEPPE offers an intimate setting with a modest number of seats. The owner manages the small dining room—centred around table seating—with efficiency, giving guests an unpretentious space to settle in and enjoy Italian cooking.
A major draw of the trattoria is its pizza, baked to a substantial size of around 30 cm. The dough is aromatic with a satisfying bite, topped generously with cheese and savouries. Options range from the signature TEPPE, topped with house-smoked mozzarella and house-made sausage, to a light Marinara fragrant with garlic and oregano over tomato sauce, or a Quattro Formaggi melting together 4 cheeses. The menu also includes calzones folded around fillings before baking, as well as deep-fried pizza fritta.
Beyond the pizza, care is evident throughout the antipasti and desserts. Salads served at lunch and dinner arrive piled with fresh greens dressed in a bright, acidic dressing. Sharing an antipasto plate or pasta alongside Italian beer or wine makes for an easygoing meal. For dessert, dark coffee or espresso pairs well with vanilla-scented panna cotta or tiramisu.
Payment is cash only, and with limited seating, planning ahead with a reservation is recommended for dinner and weekends. Takeaway is also offered, allowing diners to bring a pizza home to share.
